Scope
This document specifies the terms and definitions, models, main structures, basic parameters and working conditions, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, signs, nameplates, Packaging, transportation and storage requirements. This document is applicable to the design, manufacture, inspection, etc. of preform injection molding mold systems (hereinafter referred to as "molds") for PET bottles used in food, daily chemical, and pharmaceutical industries.
Introduction

Core Technical Specifications for PET Preform Moulds

According to GB/T41102-2021 standard, the PET preform injection moulding mould system must meet strict mechanical performance and hygiene requirements. This standard is applicable to the production of packaging containers in the food, pharmaceutical and other industries, and puts forward clear indicators for the hot runner system accuracy, cooling efficiency and molding stability of the mould.

Technical requirements for hot runner system

The standard stipulates that the hot runner system must meet the following requirements:

  • Valve needle movement accuracy±0.1mm
  • Hot runner plate flatness under working condition<0.4mm
  • Compressed air quality level: solid particles≤level 2, oil content≤0.01mg/m3
  • Insulation resistance≥1MΩ

Typical case: After a beverage bottle manufacturer adopted the needle valve hot runner system, the bottle preform qualification rate increased from 98.5% to 99.9%.


Mold materials and processing specifications

20Cr13/40Cr13 materials are recommended for molding parts, and the heat treatment hardness requirements are:

  • Cavity/core: 40-55HRC
  • Mold parts: 25-40HRC

Parts that are in contact with PET are required to undergo surface hardening and comply with the GB/T19891 hygiene standard.


Implementation suggestions

  1. 100 mold dry run tests are required for new mold acceptance
  2. Regularly check the hot runner temperature control deviation (monthly)
  3. Cooling water needs to maintain pH7-9, hardness <140mg/L CaCO3
  4. It is recommended to configure an online temperature monitoring system
